Meet Gilmore Girl Cavaliers

GGC's goal is breeding joyful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies with care, love, and a commitment to healthy, happy companions.

Here is a little bit about why GGC came about:

My 1st cavalier was Bentley, pictured to the right. Bentley(aka my 1st born according to my daughter lol) lived 12 beautiful years. He was definitely my baby. During his 12 yrs he battled mitral valve heart disease.

I have loved this breed since watching dog shows every Thanksgiving as a child. I dreamed of getting one. Once I got a little money I ran and got the cheapest one I could find and afford. At that time (2009), that was $700- which was crazy cheap for this breed. You know the term, "you get what you pay for"? Well, I did. Don't get me wrong, I loved that boy with every piece of me and would not trade one second I had with him. But bless his heart, we stayed at the vet it seemed. He was on medication for years to manage his disease and some days he was absolutely miserable.

Obviously, through this I did my research and learned so much about the breed and what good, reputable breeders were doing to prevent this in their pups. Some countries condemned this breed, saying they're just unhealthy. No, breeding just failed them for years. Breeders now have a lot more resources available to help prevent and breed healthier. Of course there are still plenty out there not doing what they can to prevent, but that's why it's your job to do your research and find a breeder that is trying. It's not guaranteed, but chances are much better.

My breeders are a part of our family and every day lives. They are OFA certified and DNA tested. We want to do our best to help contribute to healthy future for cavaliers.

Cavaliers are exactly how I viewed them as a child- royalty!
